Dreamweaver news
I just wasted 20 minutes of my life that I
can’t get back. I downloaded Dreamweaver4 beta.
Then I got my trusty CS3 Web Premium serial number
out. Put in the 24 digits only to see that it
wouldn’t accept my serial… What gives? So

You can now find the Fireworks team's new blog here :
http://blogs.adobe.com/fireworks That's a great
thing for improving Fireworks' visibility and
hopefully it will be updated regularly. On the other
hand, I wonder why Adobe is not using a ColdFusion
based solution for blogging. I really think they
should be using their own platforms as much as
possible. They could be using an existing blogging
application like BlogCFC which I'm using here or
build their own (which they could sell or give away,
integrate into Dreamweaver, etc). The possibilities
are mind boggling and I wonder why the primary Web

Well I finally got VMWare running under Suse 9.0.
It's taken a lot of messing about, and none of the
solutions I found online worked for me at all.
Finally I installed vmware 4.01 from rpm, then
installed the upgrade patch
(vmware-any-any-update60.tar.gz) - it replaced the
kernel modules suse had built, and then ran
config.pl. I had to let config.pl compile new modules
(otherwise it halts execution) but then not overwrite
them, and all was wunnerful! So thankfully R has a
working VMWare setup on her machine now to get over
all the issues with dreamweaver etc not working
properly

Ryan Stewart on Seesmic on Flash search-ability

One of my favourite AIR features is the support of
creating local database file using SQLite embedded
engine. If you have SQL skills it'll be easy to
storing persistent local data to your desktop
application. You can use this feature to store
application data, favourite users' configuration
options, document-oriented application, to cache data
and synch it with the network. Creating a SQLite
database in AIR is pretty simple:

Happy fourth of July.  I thought I pitch in
which this Fireworks effect from Flashden that is
100% ActionScript 2.0 based.  This Flash
component allows you to change the density, speed,
size, color and number of the fireworks
particle.  Also, a believable popping sound
effect is attached to every mouse click.  Happy

Two days ago, Adobe released Beta 2 of Flash Player
10. With it came a number of enhancements, bug fixes
and new features. Linux users got a much more even
playing field. But the one that I think will have the
most impact on my day to day Flash work with Flash
